Shop screen
A shop screen is a shared device that runs without a personal account: the tablet at the till, the TV on the wall, the screen in the warehouse. Notifications from the projects you choose appear full screen in large type. Shop screens come with the Pro plan and up, and the number you can add depends on the plan. They don’t count as people and don’t use your quota.
Set up
Section titled “Set up”- In the dashboard, go to Shop screens → New screen. Give it a name (e.g. “Front till”), choose under Projects whose notifications it shows, and press Create. You get an 8-character pairing code that is valid for 15 minutes and works once.
- Open the PushBell app on the device:
- Phone, tablet: tap Set up as a shop screen on the sign-in screen.
- Android TV, Google TV: the app opens on the pairing screen.
- Enter the code and tap Connect.
If the code expired, use New code next to the screen in the dashboard. If you delete the screen in the dashboard, the device is signed out at once.
The screen shows the time at the top, the latest notification in large type in the middle, and earlier notifications below it. Emergency notifications appear on a red background. The text of end-to-end encrypted notifications is not shown on shop screens.
Phone and tablet
Section titled “Phone and tablet”- The screen stays on.
- On Android the app is pinned: the system asks “Pin app?”. To unpin, press and hold Back and Overview together.
- To lock an iPhone or iPad: turn on Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access, then triple-click the side button while the app is open.
- To leave the shop screen, press and hold the top-right corner of the screen for 3 seconds.
Press OK on the remote to open the settings:
- Keep the screen on: when on, the screen never turns off. When off, the screen stays on for 10 minutes after a new notification, then the TV’s screen saver can start.
- Start when the TV turns on: the shop screen opens by itself when the TV starts. The first time you turn this on, PushBell opens the Display over other apps permission screen: allow PushBell there (or later in Settings → Apps → Special app access). Some TV brands ship a protection app that can block apps from starting by themselves; allow PushBell there too.
- Exit: closes the shop screen. Setting it up again needs a new code from the dashboard.
Back returns to the TV’s home screen. The shop screen stays signed in, and its notifications are there when you open the app again. Sounds play through the TV’s speakers at the TV’s volume; emergency notifications play the alarm sound.
