Sounds
Every notification comes with a sound: the request’s sound, otherwise the notification type’s sound, otherwise the project’s default sound. Give each type its own sound so sales arrive with a cash register and server alarms with a siren.

{ "title": "New order", "message": "$49", "sound": "cash" }Pushover sound names map to the closest sound: cashregister → cash, siren → siren, persistent → alarm, pushover → pushbell, intermission → doorbell, updown → siren, alien → spacealarm…
Your own sound
Section titled “Your own sound”In the dashboard: Sounds → Upload sound. Give it a name (lowercase letters, digits, - and _, up to 32 characters) and pick the file.
- Common formats such as MP3, WAV, M4A and OGG work, up to 5 MB.
- Anything longer than 29.5 seconds fades out at the end (iOS doesn’t play notification sounds longer than 30 seconds).
- The volume is normalized and the sound is converted for every platform; it’s ready within seconds.
- Sounds belong to the workspace: use them by name in every project and type (
"sound": "door-chime"). - Uploading again with the same name replaces the old sound. If you rename it, the types that use it get the new name too.
How many custom sounds you can upload depends on your plan.
A newly uploaded sound reaches devices the next time the app opens (or when you pull down to refresh the inbox). Until then, notifications with that sound play the default sound.
Sound per type
Section titled “Sound per type”In the dashboard, pick the type’s sound under Notification types. The request only sends type and the sound comes from the type. A sound in the request replaces the type’s.
Sound per device
Section titled “Sound per device”Everyone can change the sender’s sound on their own device: in the app, Settings → Notification rules → Projects, open the project and tap Sound (for the whole project) or a type. Sender’s sound goes back to the sender’s choice. This only affects that device.
Emergency notifications
Section titled “Emergency notifications”An emergency notification (priority: 2) repeats until someone taps Acknowledge. On iPhone and iPad it comes with the sound you picked. On Android it rings with the phone’s alarm sound instead, and is heard even when the phone is on silent. Details: App.
