Shopify
With Shopify’s own webhooks, and no app to install, events in your store arrive on your phone as notifications. Setup takes 5 minutes.
| Shopify event | Notification |
|---|---|
| Order creation | New order: number, total, customer |
| Order payment | Order paid |
| Order cancellation | Order cancelled |
| Refund create | Refund |
| Customer creation | New customer |
Other events become notifications too, with the event’s name in the title.
In PushBell
Section titled “In PushBell”- In the dashboard, open your project’s Inbound page and click New webhook.
- Template: Shopify. Type is optional: without one, order and payment notifications arrive with a cash register sound; pick a type for your own logo and sound.
- Save and copy the URL (
https://api.pushbell.app/v1/hooks/…).
In Shopify
Section titled “In Shopify”- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Notifications → Webhooks.
- Create webhook: Event Order creation, Format JSON, URL the address from PushBell, Webhook API version the latest. Save.
- Repeat step 2 for every event you want (same URL).
- Below the list of webhooks, copy the key in “Your webhooks will be signed with …”, paste it into the webhook’s Signing secret in PushBell and save. This way nobody else who knows the URL can send fake notifications.
- From the webhook’s row menu, click Send test: the notification arrives within seconds.
If Shopify sends an event again (same delivery ID), no second notification arrives.
No notification?
Section titled “No notification?”- Wrong signing secret: a request whose signature doesn’t match doesn’t become a notification. Copy the key from Shopify again. Paste the headers and body of Shopify’s test request into Try a sample on the webhook in PushBell to see why.
- XML format selected: delete the webhook and create it again with JSON (Shopify doesn’t let you change the event or format afterwards).
- The notification is silent: give the webhook’s type a sound and priority; check PushBell’s notification permissions on your phone.
